Rev. Brenda L. Smith is a native of Henderson, Texas, and a lifelong member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church. She answered God's call to ministry in 2011, was admitted on trial in 2014, ordained a Deacon in 2015, ordained an Elder in 2018, and admitted into Full Connection by Senior Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick III during the 2019 Dallas/Fort Worth/Northwest Texas Region Annual Conference.
Rev. Smith faithfully served for six years as Associate Pastor of Ezell Chapel CME Church during her tenure as Associate Pastor at Ezell Chapel, she served a dual role as Pastor of Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Jacksboro, Texas. She currently serves on the Joint Board of Finance for the Dallas/Fort Worth/Northwest Texas Region and remains committed to preaching the Gospel, developing disciples, and serving the Church with excellence.
Professionally, Rev. Smith has built a distinguished career in public transportation and organizational leadership with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). She has received numerous honors, including the President's Award for Outstanding Service and the Outstanding Woman of DART Award, and completed leadership training through the SMU Cox School of Business.
Her leadership extends beyond the workplace through service as Treasurer for Women in Leadership (WIL), Treasurer for Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS), Area Director for Toastmasters International, the Leadership Southwest Board of Directors, the Sustainable Communities Institute Board of Directors at Cedar Valley College, and a graduate of Leadership Southwest. She is also a certified workshop facilitator through Development Dimensions International (DDI).
Rev. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Texas College, a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and is currently a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Perkins School of Theology.
Rev. Smith is married to Mr. MacArthur Smith, Sr. Together they are blessed with a blended family of four adult children and thirteen grandchildren. She is devoted to faithful ministry, servant leadership, and advancing God's Kingdom through preaching, teaching, and community service.
Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
